I hear a lot of self proclaimed video experts talk about the quality of the Flip video Minio HD cameras. Of course they are usually trying to convince you to buy the camera they are pushing, for a much higher price. Watch this video, then order up your Flip Minio HD!
Remember, if you are watching a Youtube flip camera video and the quality seems off, select the option for "watch in high quality" on the bottom right of the video window. By default Youtube posts a lower quality video.

Can a flip take indoor shots of a conference going on at a hotel site (100-people size rooms) just to get a basic recording of the talk and perhaps some attendee questions? Many thanks.

Absolutely. I have a friend here in Atlanta who records weekly presentations at the Buckhead Business Association Meetings with his MiniHD.
Granted the Flip is not a long distance recorder so the closer you are to the source the better.
Also, like any camera without a unidirectional microphone, it will pick up your voice (and those around you) much more clearly than a speakers far away.
